Networking with Bangladeshi Students in Singapore

Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore organized an event titled “Networking with Bangladeshi Students in Singapore” at the High Commission Auditorium on 11 August 2018. More than 50 Bangladeshi students studying in different universities in Singapore as well as a number of Bangladeshi faculty teaching in different Singapore universities attended the networking event. This was the first ever program organized by Bangladesh High Commission in Singapore exclusively for Bangladeshi students. Bangladesh High Commissioner to Singapore Mr. Md. Mustafizur Rahman delivered the welcome speech at the event. Later, in an ambience of warmth and informality, the students, teachers and High Commission officials introduced themselves and exchanged views on issues related to study and academic life in Singapore as well as how the High Commission can best serve the students.

In his welcome address, the High Commissioner, among others, highlighted the stellar socio-economic development of the country and hoped that the Bangladeshi students in Singapore would contribute to sustaining and further realizing the enormous growth potentials of Bangladesh. Terming the students “Future Leaders of the Country” he reminded them of the critical role they can play to portray the positive image of Bangladesh abroad. He expected that at the end of their academic pursuit, the students would utilize their academic knowledge towards development and prosperity of our beloved motherland. During the “Exchange of Views” session, the students thanked the High Commission for organizing a networking evert for the students and requested the Mission to work with the relevant authorities in Singapore so that more Bangladeshi students can come and study in Singapore with scholarship and other financial support. The students expressed their willingness to go back to Bangladesh at the end of their study provided that there would be appropriate employment opportunities for them where they would be able to apply their knowledge and expertise. In his concluding remarks, the High Commissioner assured the students of Mission’s active engagement with them in the coming days to help them achieve their academic and professional aspirations.

The event ended with lunch where the Mission hosted the students with delicious Bangladeshi dishes. A goody bag with token gifts was presented to each student and faculty as a memento to make the event memorable.
